Online Safety Rules for Kids (Print Out)

Miuchiz.com is dedicated to providing a fun and safe environment for children to explore, but Parents (Guardians and Teachers) still need to stay in close touch with their children as they venture onto the Internet.

Here are a few simple guidelines for your kids to help them protect their privacy and themselves online.

1. ALWAYS ask your parents before you give out personal information about yourself online - even if it's to enter a game or contest.

This includes your full name, your street address, e-mail address, telephone number, or any other personal information about yourself.

2. ALWAYS provide your parents' correct e-mail address if it is requested by a website. Your parents may need to give their permission, or provide more information, for you to enter or play.

3. Only respond to e-mails or instant messages from people you know (or from addresses you know).

4. Don't open up any e-mails, files, or Web pages from people you don't know. Viruses are commonly spread through opening up e-mail attachments. If you are not sure, it is best to ask your parent or guardian or just delete the e-mail.

5. If you receive an e-mail or IM that makes you uncomfortable or you think is weird, don't respond. Show it to your parents or your teacher. If this happens on Miuchiz.com, please let us know by contacting us at help@miuchiz.com and we will take the necessary action.

6. If someone you met online wants to meet you in the real world, ALWAYS tell your parents first. It may not be a great idea to meet with people you've met online, but if you do, here are some rules you should stick to:

  • Meet in a public place, (a crowded park or mall).
  • Go with a parent or 18+ sibling, even if you are an adult yourself!
  • Make sure the other party will bring along a parent or other adult.
  • Meet only people you feel you know well and have known for a long time.

7. Remember that Miuchiz™ message boards and chat features are only through Miuchiz.com. We cannot be responsible for off-site IM and AIM messaging or private e-mail sent between our users. Other users may ask you to message with them using instant messaging services like Microsoft Instant Messenger (IM) and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) or private e-mail accounts. Please ask a parent first to make sure this is okay.

8. Don't ever give out your password to any other person on Miuchiz.com. We would NEVER ask for your password by e-mail or through any chat feature. If any other player on Miuchiz.com tries to get you to reveal your password, please report them by contacting us at help@miuchiz.com.
